Healthcare employment recovery slowed in November

As usual, healthcare’s biggest gains were in the ambulatory sector, which added an estimated 51,700 jobs in November. That’s down from 60,500 jobs added in October. Within ambulatory, physicians’ offices added the most jobs in November: 20,900, up 0.8% from October.

Home health added 13,000 jobs, up 0.9% from October. Outpatient care centers added 5,500 jobs, up 0.6% over the prior month.

Hospitals added an estimated 4,700 jobs in November, which represented a tiny, 0.1% uptick from October’s total. By comparison, hospitals made 17,200 new hires in October.
