Kolkata: The West Bengal Scientific Institution Regulatory Fee on Monday awarded a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of a 39-year-old man who died of suicide, allegedly unable to bear the ache and monetary misery after his gallbladder surgical procedure went improper at a metropolis medical facility.
The clinic has been requested to pay the quantity in 10 equal instalments. The deceased, Manoj Kumar Parbat, himself was the complainant however he died even earlier than the fee might hear the case.
In response to a criticism lodged by the Rajahart resident, he underwent a gallbladder-removal surgical procedure at New Life Nursing Residence on June 28, 2018. He claimed he sustained a bile-duct damage through the surgical procedure and remained admitted within the Rajarhat clinic until July 11 with no correct therapy. Later, he underwent two extra rectification surgical procedures and went to south India for additional therapy. He lodged a criticism with the fee on January 29, 2019.
“Once we took up the case on January 14, 2020, his spouse knowledgeable us that her husband had died of suicide. Evidently he suffered from immense ache and confronted an acute monetary crunch as a result of bills for his therapy,” stated Justice (retd) Ashim Kumar Banerjee, chairman WBCERC.
